Self-contained Preschool Teacher
Welcome to Preschool at Evergreen Elementary School!
Our preschool programs include:
a self-contained classroom that addresses the specific needs of students who qualify for special education services and require a more intensive program. This program would be accessed through the special education process where more information would be provided.
developmentally appropriate activities, presenting children with challenges while offering opportunities for success.
activities to achieve these learning standards include the use of independent and guided reading, opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery, music and movement, gym and playground, dramatic play, and activities that foster critical thinking skills.
open-ended activities that enhance speech development, language acquisition, cognitive skills, social interactions, emotional growth, and fine and gross motor skills.
learning standards are addressed in literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, and the arts.
a certified teacher with early childhood endorsements facilitates the classes, a speech-language pathologist, and other educational specialists assist the teachers as needed.
morning session is 8:30-11:05 and afternoon session is 12:20-2:55. Each classroom is comprised of students from ages three to turning five during the school year.
Each AM and PM blended classroom will go up to 16 students, 5 with identified special education needs and 11 At-Risk. The self-contained classroom can go up to 10 students who are all qualified under special education and that require this level of support under their Individualized Education Program (IEP). Our goal is to instruct our early childhood students in the least restrictive environment possible, with related service providers pushing in whenever possible, depending on individual student needs.
The two AM and PM blended classrooms each offer two multi-age sessions offered five days per week, Monday through Friday. The self-contained classroom attends Monday through Friday five days per week as well, but the age and grade levels can vary from year-to-year. If your child is found eligible for the special education services and requires this level of support by their IEP, more specific details will be provided at the IEP meeting.
Morning Session: 8:20-11:05 AM
Afternoon Session: 12:20-2:55 PM
Self-contained: 8:30 AM-1:30 PM
