Miss G. - Third Grade Teacher
Hello! My name is Miss G. and I am a third grade teacher here at Evergreen Elementary. Go Eagles! I graduated from Elmhurst College with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. Then, I earned my Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from Eastern Michigan.
Third grade is filled with lots of learning and new adventures! There are many laughs, stories shared, and smiles throughout our day. My favorite part of teaching is building relationships with each and every one of my students while providing a strong classroom community. Third grade is a time that students grow to be more independent learners and thinkers and I truly enjoy nurturing and being a part of their growth!
Mrs. Claude - Third Grade Teacher
I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Administrative Management from the University of Northern Iowa. I worked in banking for 12 years. Then I decided to change careers and pursued a Master of Arts in Education from National Lewis University.
I have taught in this district for 27 years. One of those years I taught 6th grade at Benjamin Middle School, and the rest have been 3rd grade at Evergreen Elementary School.
Mr. Claude and I have an adult daughter and son who both went through this district. I also have 4 grandchildren ages 10, 8, 7, and 5. Of course, they are adorable children, but I am a little biased. It has been so fun watching them grow into wonderful human beings.
Mrs. Higgins - Third Grade Teacher
My name is Mrs. Kristen Higgins and I am a third grade teacher. I believe in child centered learning and building a class culture that promotes respect among peers and teachers. I graduated from National-Louis University and this is my 15th year in education. My experience is in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education. Other than my love of teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family of 5 and creating memories together.
Welcome to Third Grade at Evergreen Elementary School!
Third grade is an exciting year of growth in students learning and development. With supportive guidance, we transition students to become collaborative workers and self-directed learners who produce quality work. Students move from learning to read words to reading to understanding topics. Our goal as classroom teachers is to work collaboratively with students and families in order to meet the academic and social needs of all children.
Students will enjoy a visit from the Dictionary Man, as well as a field trip to the Adler Planetarium and a visit to Slim Goodbody. Third grade students will also participate in an evening musical production in the spring.
Extra-curricular activities (before or after school) available to third grade students include BOKS (Builds our Kids Success), Chess Club, Club EverGREEN, Intramurals, and Culture Club.
We also look forward to working with parent volunteers and appreciate your time and interest. Thank you for the partnership in your child’s education.
