Our preschool program includes
A self-contained classroom that addresses the specific needs of students who qualify for special education services and require a more intensive program
Developmentally appropriate activities, presenting children with challenges while offering opportunities for success
Activities to achieve these learning standards include the use of independent and guided reading, opportunities for hands-on exploration and discovery, music and movement, gym and playground, dramatic play, and activities that foster critical thinking skills
Open-ended activities that enhance speech development, language acquisition, cognitive skills, social interactions, emotional growth, and fine and gross motor skills
Learning standards are addressed in literacy, mathematics, science and technology, social studies, and the arts
A Certified teacher with early childhood endorsements facilitates the classes. A speech-language pathologist and other educational specialists assist the teachers as needed.
Morning session is 8:30-11:05 Afternoon session is 12:20-2:55. Each classroom is comprised of students from ages three to turning five during the school year.
Each blended classroom will go up to 16 students, 5 with identified special education needs and 11 At-Risk. Our goal is to instruct our early childhood students in the least restrictive environment possible, with related service providers pushing in whenever possible, depending on individual student needs.
